One love. One community.

Everyone has something to give.

Give time. Gain skills. Help Newport.

A simple Newport-wide programme connecting people, families and schools with practical ways to give time, build skills and take community action. You do not need to commit to everything. Choose one opportunity or one activity that works for you.

16+ — Volunteer & build experience

Get experience that means something. Young people aged 16+ can take part in supported volunteering, relevant training and practical community experience. Opportunities can include Digital Champion activity, community reuse, food and community activities, administration, community engagement, events and appropriate digital/content support. Benefits can include induction and relevant training, practical experience, logged hours, Tempo Time Credits where applicable, a record of skills and training, CV/application evidence, references after meaningful participation and support with next steps.

Parents & carers — Flexible volunteering

Give a few hours. Build your skills. Help your city. Our flexible adult volunteering route is designed to work around real life and, where possible, school hours. Volunteer to meet people, rebuild confidence, learn or refresh skills, gain recent experience or simply help Newport. There is no requirement to be looking for work.

Under 16 — Community action through school

You can still help Newport. Children and young people under 16 take part through school-led, supervised Community Action rather than ordinary Feed Newport volunteering. Schools can run collections, campaigns, kindness projects, sustainability activities and their own safe community ideas.

Schools — One activity. One term. One difference.

Choose one. Do more if you can. Schools do not need to sign up to a large programme. Primary pupils can create, learn, collect, give and take action. Under-16 secondary pupils can join school-led campaigns and community challenges. Students aged 16+ can access real volunteering and training. Parents and carers can access flexible volunteering. Staff can promote, coordinate, connect families or volunteer themselves.

Safety

Feed Newport keeps participation proportionate and safe. Under-16 activity is school-led and supervised. Roles for 16–17 year olds are selected and risk-assessed appropriately. Safeguarding and DBS requirements are assessed by role rather than applied as blanket checks. Volunteers receive induction and only the training relevant to what they do.
